Support Asylum Seekers from Venezuela

In response to a declared humanitarian crisis in Denver, Regis University sheltered on campus up to 40 asylum seekers from Venezuela, all families with children, for a week. Thanks to our many volunteers and our community's generous support, we provided a safe place for our guests to rest and rejuvenate before continuing to their destinations elsewhere in the state and the U.S.

There are still opportunities for Regis University community members to support asylum seekers.

The City and County of Denver need medical and non-medical volunteers to help staff emergency shelters. Volunteers must pass a background check and may register here

Denver's Office of Emergency Management (OEM) operates two donation sites:

  • Temple Emanuel, 51 Grape St., Denver, CO 80220, is still accepting donations on Mondays from 5-8 p.m.
    • Enter the parking lot on Grape St. and 1st Ave. at the north entrance. Enter under the portico from the north side. Volunteers will be waiting to help you unload your donations. Once you have dropped off your donations, please continue exiting through the parking lot's south side.
  • 1011 S. Federal Blvd., Denver, CO 80219. Donation drop-off times for this westside site are Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 12-5 p.m. Volunteers are urgently needed at this site between 11 a.m.-6 p.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
