UPDATE 2: Phase II of Main Hall Mansard Roof Project

UPDATE: April 10, 2024

Today we learned that there has been an unexpected change in available entrances at Main Hall due to the need to rearrange the scaffolding building schedule. Starting today, the northwest entrance will be closed for approximately one week. On Friday, the east doors will be accessible.

Please see the updated project map.

Thank you for your patience,
Your Friends in the Physical Plant.

UPDATE: April 9, 2024

  • Please see this updated map showing that the construction staging area is now on the Fortune Plaza and will remain until the project is completed in September 2024.
  • The staging area does not restrict the after-hours access door on the north side of Main Hall.
  • Because ADA parking spaces on the east side of Main Hall will be offline until mid-summer, additional ADA spaces have been added on the west side of Main Hall and the ADA spaces north of the Fine Arts Building are available.
  • Even though scaffolding and the construction staging area will remain in place through Commencement weekend, there will be a pause in construction activity May 3-5, 2024.

Original Posting: March 26, 2024

On April 1, 2024, the Main Hall Mansard Roof Replacement project will begin again. The first signs of progress will be scaffolding setup on the east side of Main Hall from April 1-18. Please note that the east entrance of Main Hall will be closed for about a week until the erection of the scaffolding is complete in that area. During this time, please use the south entrance; for ADA access, use the west side.

Next, scaffolding on the north side will go up. There will be scaffolding in place during Commencement weekend, but the impact will be minimal if any.

To make room for project materials and equipment, all parking stalls directly west of Main Hall will be temporarily eliminated. A one-lane road will allow “in and out” travel and access to destinations north including the “turn-about,” the Jesuit Residence, two EV charging stations and a few ADA parking stalls.

The scaffolding will come down and access to parking will return to normal after project completion, which is slated for September.
