Need to get off the couch? Regis University can help
Regis University’s School of Physical Therapy is offering a free “Couch to 5K" nine-week program for neighbors with an eye on a prize: being able to run the University’s popular Move Forward 5K or 10K on Sept. 18.
Turn to the Couch to 5K website for a training program, interactive training log, periodic video workshops led by the University’s Doctor of Physical Therapy students, running routes and a place for sharing and viewing participants’ photos. A free app, such as Strava or MapMyRun, is recommended for tracking individual progress.
The Move Forward 5K and 10K are scheduled for 9 a.m. (10K start) and 9:15 a.m. (5K start), Saturday, Sept. 18, at the Regis University Northwest Denver Campus, 3333 Regis Blvd. A virtual racing option also will be available.

Sponsored by Regis’ Doctor of Physical Therapy students, the Move Forward 5K/10K races benefit Canine Companions for Independence’s puppy training program. Since 1975, Canine Companions has provided service dogs to people with disabilities at no charge. Regis’ Doctor of Physical Therapy students and faculty train and care for many of these therapy dogs until they are placed. Organizers also plan to donate race proceeds to the national Foundation for Physical Therapy, which funds research and scholarships.
Lace up those running shoes. We'll see you in September!
