About the Center for Scholarship and Research Engagement
The Center for Scholarship and Research Engagement (CSRE) is here to administer, grow, and care for the research culture at Regis University. CSRE is Regis' one-stop shop for research and sponsored projects. We facilitate internal funding, research compliance and the pursuit of sponsored projects, so if you have questions in any of those areas please don't hesitate to get in touch at CSRE@regis.edu
We are an office of two: Chris Roberts and Alan Stark.
Chris Roberts is the Director of CSRE. He has a PhD in Archaeology/Medieval Studies from Arizona State University and has spent the majority of his career working on issues of style and identity on transdisciplinary research projects. His professional work can be found on his Expert Gallery Profile. Chris supports the administration of the University Research and Scholarship Council, which awards grants to both students and faculty who are doing research or creative projects that align with their scholarly goals. He is also the primary contact for faculty interested in pursuing federal funding opportunities, hashing out ideas for new sponsored projects, or just generally wanting to talk about their research portfolio.
A great way to find Chris is to check the Goldspot on late Friday afternoons, where he frequently reflects on the events of the week while enjoying one of his favorite beverages.
Alan Stark started at Regis in 2006 but he joined the Office of Academic Grants (CSRE's forerunner) in late 2014. Alan holds two BAs from Metropolitan State University of Denver and a Masters in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Middle Tennessee State University. Prior to his life in research, Alan was an accomplished HR officer for three different organizations – including Regis. His experience in HR provides him with many useful insights into aspects of personnel management on grants and in research projects more generally. Alan primarily supports Regis University's three research compliance bodies: the IRB (human subjects research), IACUC (animal research), and IBC (biosafety research) but he also helps with pre-award and grant applications.
Alan is an avid sports fan and can frequently be found watching Nuggets, Broncos, Rockies, or Rangers games as he reflects on the events of the day while enjoying one of his favorite drinks – vodka-infused Ensure.
