• After a one-year hiatus due to COVID, the Staff Advisory Council is once again sponsoring the Annual Halloween Costume Contest on Friday, Oct. 29 at noon at the Student’s Center Walker’s Pub stage. Get friends and colleagues together to enter as a team or come decked out in your own creative costume!  The Provost’s Office Addams Family held the last first place trophy – who will get to display that trophy this year? 
• Keep an eye out for the :60 faculty lecture series that MarCom will be featuring on social media and the website.  Here’s a sneak peek from Dr. Ethan Sanders, Associate Professor in the Department of History, Politics and Political Economy. It’s amazing what you can learn in one minute! 
• Dr. Loretta Notareschi, Professor of Music, was recently interviewed about her compositional life for the podcast Moveable Do.  In the episode, she talks about the life and death of Regis's first music performance major, Emily Manion Roebken, and the piece she wrote in her memory, So Live!, which was performed at Regis in a concert in her honor. 
• Dr. Abby Gosselin, Professor of Philosophy in Regis College, was invited to give a talk, "Achieving a Full and Rich Life: Stigma, Agency, and the Biomedical Model of Mental Illness," based on her book Humanizing Mental Illness (McGill-Queen's University Press, 2021), to the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Manitoba on November 2 at 6:30 p.m. MST. The talk is free and open to the public. • Regis University is partnering with Denver NorthStar and other community groups to sponsor a voter fair from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23 in front of the Student Center. All 5 Denver school board candidates and representatives from 6 Denver ballot issue campaigns will attend. David Sabados, editor of the Denver NorthStar, will emcee. Other partners are Berkeley-Regis United Neighbors, Sunnyside United Neighbors, Highlands United Neighbors, Chaffee Park Neighborhood Association, Jefferson Park United Neighbors, Denver Inter-Neighborhood Cooperation, Denver Public Library and Denver North High School. Learn more.
• In This Together: The Crowded Table Project, the series of recitals/concerts organized by our music faculty to benefit the Safe Outdoor Space, continues: 

• Director of Music Technology, Cory Cullinan, and his new group Konshens & The Earth Band -- with special guest lead vocalist Riley Max Cullinan – kicked off the Nature For Life Hub at the United Nations General Assembly on October 4th with a premiere of their new song The Sun Rises In Your Eyes.  You can see a video of the livestream here. They also have another single from the album called Shine that recently raced up the Sirius XM Kids Place Live national chart to #4.  Here’s the video. 
• Dr. Trudi Wright was invited to the graduate class "Sound, Music and Trauma" at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music on September 10 and presented the online workshop, "Preparing the Table: The Art of Gathering and 'Radical Hospitality' in the Music Classroom and Studio." 
• Tony Ortega, Professor of Fine Arts, and his artwork, were recently featured on Channel 31 news.

All are welcome to the Regis Teaching Excellence Network Kick-off 

All are invited to the Regis Teaching Excellence Network Kick-off on October 28th from 9AM - 10:45AM. Dr. Karen Riley will provide an overview of the purpose and goals of the Regis Teaching Excellence Network (RTEN). The first offering is the Design-Based Research Peer Cluster project. Dr. Lauri Turchi of the University of Houston (soon to be of Arizona State University) will provide an overview of Design-Based Research (DBR) methodology and share her experience with engaging in DBR. This entire session is open to all faculty even those not participating in the Design-Based Research Peer Cluster project.
