Regis awards more than $6 million in federal relief funds
On March 27, 2020, Congress passed the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES Act), which established emergency relief funds to organizations and individuals affected by the coronavirus pandemic. The Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) provides funding to colleges and universities to help students continue their education uninterrupted.
Regis University has received three rounds of HEERF funding designated for students.
- HEERF I – 1058 students received $1,224,343
- HEERF II – 669 students received $1,224,343
- HEERF III – so far 990 students have received $3,013,032 out of the $4,042,409 available.
In total, Regis has received HEERF student allocations in the amount of $6,491,095. Without these funds, many students would not have been able to continue their education due to the pandemic. The Office of Financial Aid and the Office of Student Affairs Distress Committee continue to receive applications for assistance from Regis students and have been busy awarding the grant for those in need.
