Campus Safety Update for Faculty and Staff - Sept. 7

To All Faculty and Staff,

We want to ensure that everyone is aware about the incident that took place last night. A student reported to Campus Safety at approximately 9:15 p.m. Tuesday that she had seen three men on campus walking east toward the Field House with one carrying a long shotgun. Denver Police responded quickly, and Campus Safety issued a lockdown via an RU Alert. Denver Police conducted a building-by-building sweep, which they completed after midnight, and reviewed security camera footage. No weapon was found. Groups of students who were in the Field House and Student Center at the time were given escorts to safety. We have sent communications to all students with resources to help support them at this time. In addition, we have also communicated to parents about what took place and what resources are available for their students. You can find the resources and what we communicated to students here. Campus Safety issued a series of RU Alerts to keep campus informed on the safety measures being taken by Denver Police and issued an all clear at 12:38 a.m. Wednesday morning. I know I speak on behalf of all Regis University leadership with appreciation to campus security and the Denver Police Department. The focus on student and community safety was a top priority for all.
