Catching Up with Cody: Reimagining Our Future

We’ve had an exciting few months to kick off the fall semester and our Board of Trustees were back to help provide guidance as we move forward. We’re growth focused and reimagining what the university’s future will look like​. We reminded the trustees of our goals and our determination to tackle them with a renewed sense of spirit. Some of the areas discussed, include student centricity with enrollment and retention as the top priority, organizing for success with improved efficiency, and accelerating the Manifest Magis campaign as it relates to growing gifts and scholarships.

We are grateful for the success we had with this year’s Blue and Gold events. We saw so many excited people on campus, feeling more comfortable celebrating in person, and having a sense of normalcy again. Our alums and families returned to campus with joy and support of this beloved place. With 2022 showing record registration, we are already looking to find ways to make it even better and stronger for 2023.

With the continued prioritization toward enrollment and retention, we welcome Dr. Senthil Kumar as VP of Strategic Enrollment. The team had already identified past challenges. They now stand ready to dive deep looking at how we will forge ahead. We will have a new process for advising and engaging more with our students.

Retention remains our top priority and success will require enhancements toward scholarly excellence​ and student thriving. A key goal will be that all programs provide an accessible, equitable, quality and contemporary learning experience​. Dr. Riley, the Deans, and the faculty are currently creating a comprehensive plan that will involve a variety of goals and activities. We continue to enhance our operations to embrace a more student centric approach. We are also working on our comprehensive approach to student advising which will include professional student advisors as well as faculty mentors. Student Affairs is assessing results of its recent summit focused on the student experience.

Our Mission team continues to build out more opportunities to strengthen our overall Jesuit values. We want to continue to develop our relationships and extend our community outreach​. Mission has hired a new University Minister for Sacred and Liturgical Music in response to increased participation. We are also aiming to extol the Jesuit Catholic experience at Regis with the region's Catholic high schools and Jesuit high schools in partnership with Enrollment Management.​

We are looking at how we can better involve parents and key stakeholders through the full enrollment process to increase understanding for second year enrollment​. One area that we know we need to continue to bolster is our level of student engagement, including responses to student inquiries​ and continuing to build up the new student portal. We will also be looking to strengthen our enrollment with graduate and international students. Our data shows that adult learners now make up 40% of higher ed tuition revenue and we have an opportunity to continue to grow in this space. We cannot afford to sacrifice any of these initiatives if we plan to meet our growth objective

It is truly an exciting time to be in Higher Education. With the multiple changes in the industry, Regis is poised to lead because of you, your input and your actions.  We shared our belief in the collective RU Team and the Board of Trustees is anticipating continued momentum shifts across campus.   

All of this is progress leading to an incredibly brighter future.
