Save the Dates for April 4-6 for an exciting series of events: “Toward Justice Through Relational Action” with our Chester Alter Visiting Scholars.

Faculty, staff, students and the community are welcome to hear from the following guests:

Maureen Walker, PhD, Licensed Psychologist

Raised in the racially segregated South of the 1950s and 60s, Dr. Maureen Walker went on to become a licensed psychologist, speaker, educator, and writer who helps people bridge cultural differences such as race, religion, gender and other social status markers. 

She is the author of When Getting Along is Not Enough: Reconstructing Race in Our Lives and Relationships.

Amy Banks, MD

Dr. Amy Banks is a psychiatrist, Founding Scholar at the International Center for Growth in Connection, and a Senior Scholar at the Wellesley Centers for Women.  She has an ongoing passion to spread the message that we are hardwired for connection. 

Among other books, Dr. Banks coauthored Wired to Connect: The Surprising Link Between Brain Science and Strong, Healthy Relationships.

Isaac Knapper

At the age of sixteen, Isaac was arrested, tried as an adult and wrongly convicted of the murder of Dr. Ronald Banks, Amy Banks’ father.  He was sentenced to life in prison without parole.  In 1992, his conviction was overturned. 

Isaac and Amy Banks documented their journeys connected to the killing of Dr. Ronald Banks in their coauthored book Fighting Time.
