Counseling services offered in wake of shootings at university

Dear students:

The shocking news this weekend of seven college students at universities in Virginia and Idaho losing their lives violently is painful to witness and process. We mourn for their loss and grieve with their loved ones for the senseless murders at those schools as well as in our own community. We are sorrowful that some of you have been personally affected by recent fatal shootings at house parties in Denver. We pray our country will someday soon unite in action to protect life and end the scourge of gun violence, in particular, in our communities that heavily impacts young people.

Please be aware that the University’s Office of Counseling and Personal Development (OCPD), 114 Coors, offers walk-in hours for those in need of counseling. All services are free of charge and confidential to eligible students. OCPD also has a resource library for handling distressing events.

You can call 303.458.3507 or email perscoun@regis.edu to connect with someone. For additional support you may also call Protocall's number: 855-876-6885.

After hours and on weekends, their phones are answered by mental health professionals to assist students 24/7.

If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, please contact Colorado Crisis Services at 844-493-8255, text "TALK" to 38255 or call 911.
