Regis extends campus indoor mask requirement

Dear students and colleagues:

The University’s indoor mask requirement will be extended through February 11 as an extra precaution and to help keep our community safe. This internal requirement for masks could be extended again depending on campus case rates and local conditions.

While the campus COVID-19 test positivity rate has declined from 17% at the beginning of January to 2.3% this week, Denver’s rate remains at 17.2% and local hospitalizations are at the highest level since January 2021. Continued masking in classrooms and in campus facilities will help protect our students, staff and faculty until conditions in surrounding communities improve.

Denver, Adams and Arapahoe counties’ mask requirements are expiring Friday but mask requirements in Boulder and Larimer counties are still in place. The federal public transportation mask rules, which affects buses, trains, airports and taxis including Uber and Lyft rides, also remain in effect.

We will continue to update our coronavirus response site and FAQs about vaccines, testing and related issues.

I thank you to all for your demonstrations of flexibility and grace as we continue to adapt to the shifting landscape that is shaped by COVID. Our community continues to demonstrate a thoughtful and measured approach.

We were one of a small handful of institutions that chose not to take a one-size-fits-all approach to returning to campus. This served us well and our staff, students and faculty were intentional and necessary partners in this success. We ask for your continued patience as we monitor the university, city, and state conditions and make adjustments that center the safety and overall well-being of our community.
