Organized for Success Update for July 12
Mindstream, our efficiency and organization consultant, is continuing its important work to help Regis be best positioned for future success.
It is finding many opportunities to turn the page due to the many dedicated employees at all levels of units who have been offering great ideas.
Below is the latest update on their findings.
Initial Findings based on the review of 4 departments (gaps and opportunities):
- Organizational chart. Within the university’s current structure, some departments may not be reporting to the right senior leader (Vice President).
- Departmental business plans. Assessed departments lack a business/operational plan. All RU leaders should consider the elements of a plan, e.g., goals, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and communication processes prior to department assessment.
- Purchasing. The university does not have a strategy or centralized procurement function; hence, goods and services are not purchased in an optimal manner (formal RFP/ RFO/ RFQs, formal contracts). This leads to missed opportunities to save money. Without cross departmental engagement, Regis many not be engaging the best possible vendor for the university.
- Information management: The university lacks a formal requirements definition, analysis, and specification process for software; hence, technology solutions are deployed by departments without regard to whether they connect to existing platforms across the institution (interoperability). This presents an opportunity to eliminate information silos.
In the next 30 days, Mindstream will review their findings with leadership for Anderson College of Business and Computing and the School for Professional Advancement, along with enrollment management and student engagement solutions. From there, we will have ideas and potential changes to share with our Regis community.
