Dave Law to join University Advancement as department announces new appointments

Dave Law will join University Advancement as director of alumni relations on Aug. 28.

Law, who has served as director of student life since 2002, has been a mentor, guide and counselor to thousands of students and their families over the past two decades. He has served as a classroom instructor, service-learning guide, and cross-campus collaborator. In addition, he is the recipient of the Regis University President's Service Award, the St. John France Regis Award, the Advisor of the Year Award, and last year, students created Dave Law Day in his honor.

As the director of alumni engagement, he will lead strategy and planning for events, serve on alumni-related committees, and work with internal and external partners to develop, expand and reimagine programs, initiatives and services to benefit alumni. He will work closely with Assistant Director of Alumni Engagement Ashley Kloess to support the goals of Advancement, and the University as a whole, through strategies and initiatives that support the cultivation of alumni as potential donors and build a pipeline of philanthropic support.

In addition to Law's appointment, UA is welcoming team members into new positions.

Jacque Swanepoel, who joins us as director of planned giving, most recently served as director of development in the College of Business, Student Affairs and Athletics at Metropolitan State University of Denver. From 2009 to 2021, he served as head coach of the men’s and women’s squash teams at Columbia University.  

Niki Herrera Camarena, the new director of annual giving, most recently served as director of the Colorado Academy Fund at the college preparatory school in Lakewood, where she led campaigns to raise more than $2 million in 2022. Niki has also served in a variety of roles across nonprofits and philanthropy, including with the Anschutz Family Foundation, the Museum of Contemporary Art and The Denver Foundation. 

Cody Waterman, who was recently promoted to director of stewardship, served as assistant director of donor engagement and, prior to that, as an admissions counselor and hall director. Bringing a student-centered approach and giving back to the university he loves is at the center of his efforts.
