  • Congrats to Amy Hezel (Dayton Memorial Library) for her recent presentation “’Drab books and papers’: Housework, Futility, and Writing in Nella Larsen’s Quicksand” at the Midwest Popular Culture Association / Midwest American Culture Association Annual Conference.

  • In efforts to support faculty for what to do during a lockdown and how to best teach during/after a traumatic event, we want to share the following document, Lockdown Procedures, and note that the Deans will be working to bring Campus Safety to future College/Library meetings for further discussion. We are also building (and you can contribute to it!) a repository of resources for trauma-informed teaching and student support via the Trauma Informed Resources folder in OneDrive. Thank you to Kristi Gonsalves-McCabe for helping organize this, and thanks to Drs. Megan Murphy and Heidi Blair, who are also working on offering a workshop on trauma informed pedagogy (please keep an eye out for those details).

  • Please check out the Arts and Music calendar (Art and Music Events) for upcoming performances from faculty and students – lots of great opportunities the rest of the semester!
 
  • The annual Tree Lighting and Holiday Open House is next week (11/15), starting at 4:45 p.m. (families welcome!).
 
 
  • We will be changing our provider for course evaluations (more information to come) starting in the Spring. We believe we will be able to move prior years’ evaluations over to the new system, but as a precaution, Faculty and Chairs/Coordinators/Directors are encouraged to download older evaluations.
 
  • A reiteration of a separate note I sent about the GLOBAL Inclusive Faculty Fellows program. Please refer to that email for more details, but a brief background is that Fellows will participate in professional development with the GLOBAL Inclusive team and provide ongoing support to course instructors. Fellows will develop and implement a program/department inclusion plan to ensure the long-term sustainability of inclusive practices. Faculty fellows will receive a course release (or summer overload for 9-month faculty) for each of the next four semesters (SP 24, SU24, FA 24, SP 25). Faculty who teach the newly developed/redesigned courses will receive a $1,000 stipend foreach course taught. If you have questions or want to apply, please reach out to global@regis.edu.
 
  • Regis recently joined Common App’s direct admissions program, which will provide over 200,000 first generation and low-income students who are college-interested with proactive admissions offers. Common App’s direct admissions program also includes tailored outreach and resources to families, and to counselors who have students receiving a direct admission offer. Read more.
 
  • Community Call to Action: Cold Weather Gear Needed Immediately! Long-time community partner, Haven of Hope, needs our immediate help. Donations may be dropped off at the Rueckert-Hartman’s Dean’s office, Peter Claver Hall 332, between now and Friday, November 17. Please deposit the items into the boxes provided. Gear is needed for men, women, and children. All items should be clean/freshly laundered and in like-new or gently used condition. New items would be wonderful as well. (Items in poor condition cannot be accepted and will be thrown away.)

  • Sweaters/Fleece
  • Gloves/Mittens
  • Winter weight socks (must be new!)
  • Winter hats and scarves

Haven of Hope (www.thoh.org) is a day shelter serving guests experiencing homelessness and under-served populations of the Denver Metro area. With the recent influx of migrants and asylum seekers, in addition to the stressed sheltering system, Haven of Hope is facing unprecedented demand for these and other items.
