A Letter from Dr. Karen Riley

Good morning Regis, 

We are heading into a busy couple of months with commencement just two months away! Although things always seem to be busy, this time of year seems particularly packed with activities and deadlines. As such, it is a good reminder to take care of yourself, to set realistic expectations for those with whom you work and to enjoy the change in seasons.  

We will be making a call for Faculty Marshalls and volunteers for the upcoming commencement ceremonies. Please keep your eyes open for updates. 

We have some personnel changes to announce. As I shared in a separate email, Sandy Wojciehoski has transitioned to Executive Assistant to the President. Sandy has served in the Office of the Provost since 2016 and has been integral to the success and operations of Academic Affairs. Her unique combination of institutional knowledge and skill is unparalleled, and she will be missed. I am thrilled for her and  pleased for the Office of the President. We have launched a search to fill this position, which is currently posted. We want to make sure that the new Provost has as full a staff as possible when they take on the position. During the transition other members of the Office of the Provost will be assuming Sandy’s responsibilities. Kristi Gonsalves-McCabe will serve as the primary point of contact kgonsalv@regis.edu. I am indeed fortunate to have so many wonderful people including Kristi and Robin Lewison working in the Office of the Provost. Again, I want to personally thank Sandy for all of her great work and for being such a trusted and valued colleague and friend. 

We have hired Emelia Clayton as a consultant. Her full-time position is the Grants Manager at the Morgridge College of Education at DU. She is amazing and we are fortunate that she is willing to help manage some of the Regis grant activity. She will also help us develop some much-needed sponsored research systems. For those of you who currently have grants, we will connect you with Emelia once she is on board. She will not be with us full time, but is committed for a few hours every week. This was one of the requests of those who participated in the Research Retreat in December 2022. We are making progress in this area and appreciate all who are making this happen.  

Lastly, a big shout-out to our women’s basketball team, which has claimed the RMAC regular season title! Regis will be hosting this weekend’s RMAC Tournament championship rounds. Let’s show them our support! Ranger Up!
