Message to the Campus Community Regarding the Conflict in Israel/Palestine

Dear Regis Community,

We are profoundly saddened and disheartened by the deadly attacks unfolding in Israel/Palestine in recent days. The outbreak of war between Israel and Hamas has been emotionally challenging to witness.

Recognizing that members of our community may be directly impacted, with loved ones, friends, and colleagues affected, we unite during this time of uncertainty and unrest to offer solace and mutual support. The Regis family stands together to provide the much-needed assistance.

I invite you to join me on Friday, October 13, at noon, as the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusive Excellence hosts a Good Trouble Conversation titled "Gathering in Response to War in Israel/Palestine" in Claver Hall, Room 315. Everyone is invited to participate and engage in a thoughtful dialogue about the recent events. Faculty and staff are encouraged to share their perspectives, fostering a deeper understanding of the personal, historical, and political impacts of the conflict. Your presence is encouraged for listening and participating.

Additionally, our daily noon masses at the chapel include prayers for those affected by the conflict.

Our thoughts are with the victims of this violence, and we continue to pray for lasting peace in the region. As Pope Francis aptly said, "Let the attacks and weapons cease, please, because it must be understood that terrorism and war bring no solutions, but only to the death and suffering of many innocent lives. War is a defeat, every war is a defeat. Let us pray for peace in Israel and Palestine.”
