  • Congratulations to Megan Sobel Cohen, who has been selected as the Regis College Faculty Lecturer of the Year. Megan will deliver a talk this fall – more details to come!

  • The Learning Commons is currently recruiting students from across the curriculum to serve as tutors and writing coaches for the 2024/25 academic year. We look for students who excel in their coursework, can explain complex material and concepts, model effective study skills, have good interpersonal skills, and can work with Regis’ diverse student body. If you know students who would make a good tutor or writing coach, please forward their names and potential subjects to tlc@regis.edu Thanks!

  • Chris Pramuk (Regis College) has contributed a chapter, "The Gift of Tears: White Metanoiaat the Foot of the Black Cross," in a new book, Praying for Freedom: Racism and Ignatian Spirituality in America (Liturgical Press, 2024). Contributors include many colleagues from the AJCU and beyond working at the intersection of racial justice and Ignatian spirituality. 

  • A reminder about the AJCU Diversity and Equity Conference, hosted by Regis on June 9-12. This conference will be the first in-person gathering since 2019, and we are enthusiastic about the opportunity to engage in meaningful discussions, to share insights, and to strengthen the bonds within our AJCU community.  

    Regis University Office of Mission has generously offered to cover the cost of attendance for 30 Regis faculty and staff and to make this a mission leave eligible event. Please consider joining for some wonderful sessions and a keynote address from Dr. Gina Garcia. Contact diverse@regis.edu for more information.

  • Congratulations to M.D. Kinoti (Anderson College) for his latest book publication “Making Peace With Fire: Harnessing Conflicts to Transform Your Relationships. Lexham Press (February 20, 2024). ISBN-13 : ‎978-1594528675. Kinoti will be launching and signing copies of his book at the Regis Library on April 19 – 4p.m. You can purchase a copy at the event or here.

  • Our colleagues in Education have been quite busy, as evident in the following efforts:
    • Jenny Nordman presented Strategies for increasing sustained attention in readers with ADHD at the Colorado Council of the International Reading Association (CCIRA) Annual Regional Conference.
    • Jenna Martin (et al) presented State of the state of bilingual teacher preparation: Where and how does Colorado prepare bilingual educators? at the Colorado Association for Bilingual Education (CO-CABE) Annual Conference.
    • Jenna has also been named Co-President of the Colorado chapter of the National Association of Multicultural Education (Co-NAME)
    • Jenna and Kelli Woodrow presented Linguistically responsive/sustaining pedagogy as advocacy at the Colorado Association for Bilingual Education (CO-CABE) Annual Conference.
    • Jerry Goings participated in a podcast on Inclusive Leadership in Special Education, Sponsored by the American Consortium for Equity Education.
    • And Jerry also presented (Re)imagining Inclusive Leadership for All Learners: Multilevel Partnerships to Support Educator Development at the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education at the AACTE Annual Conference.

  • Sara Satkowiak, Rhiana Murphy, Kate Burns, and Amy Hezel (Dayton Memorial Library) presented “Growing Servingness and Belongingness: Planting Seeds for an OER Initiative” at the 2024 Spring Forward: The Garden of Your Mind conference on March 18th. 
    • Related, the 2024 Colorado OER Conference, which is scheduled for May 17th at the Auraria Campus, is now open for registration. This conference serves as an excellent, free opportunity to learn about Open Educational Resources (OER) and engage with experts across the state.
