FAQ’s
Is the retreat open to everyone?
All Regis employees are welcome. Elements of the experience will draw on Jesuit spirituality, but will be presented in a way that is accessible to participants of all (or no) faith traditions.
Activities will be planned to appeal to all levels of experience and fitness.
What kind of conditions should I expect?
We will be staying at the Glacier Basin Campground in Rocky Mountain National Park. Camping is in tents only, but we will have access to flushing toilets and running water. The campsite has picnic tables and a fire ring. Cell phone reception is very limited in the park.
Do I need my own camping gear?
No. Besides clothing and personal items, we will provide any camping gear you may need. We are asking anyone who has basic camping gear such as tents and sleeping bags to bring them and let us know if they have extras to share. We will supplement with gear from the Outdoor Adventures Program and rent from outfitters as necessary.
What should I pack?
REI offers a Comprehensive Packing List for trips such as this. Minimally, you will need to bring clothing for a wide range of weather conditions, A daypack and water bottle for hikes, a comfortable chair for around camp, and any personal items you may need.
Meals and snacks will be provided, and we will have all of the gear necessary for the camp kitchen and dining.
What is the exact timeframe?
The retreat formally begins Tuesday at 2:00 (if you are driving yourself, please plan to arrive at 1:00). The retreat will conclude on Thursday at 11:00.
What about transportation and other logistics?
You will have the option to drive yourself or ride in a Regis van. We will have an informational meeting for participants prior to the event to coordinate transportation, entrance passes, gear sharing, and other logistical details.
How will you handle Covid precautions?
As a Regis-sponsored event, we will follow all guidelines and recommendations from Regis University and the Colorado Department of Health.
