Building Entrance Changes and Check-Out Protocols

With the traditional semester ending this week and finals being conducted online, there will be changes to building entrances starting Monday for the duration of winter break.

The campus will return to its summer practice of having a single designated entrance to each building, which will be marked with signage. Occupants may exit any door in the facility. All doors will be locked from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. on weekdays and closed weekends, with exceptions for clinical classes. The Library and chapel will maintain their common times of access. Carroll Hall computer labs will remain open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. except between Christmas and New Year’s Day.

Most classrooms will be closed after they received an enhanced cleaning and will not reopen until Jan. 18, except for some classes in RHCHP which start Jan. 11.  Some labs will remain open until Dec. 6.

Offices that are not being used will not be cleaned during the break. If faculty and staff use offices they need to place the “enhanced cleaning”  sign on the inside of the door and custodial staff will clean the space on its regular schedule and return the sign to the outside of the door when completed. Restrooms in facilities will be cleaned daily until the holiday break.

It is important to reduce energy in space not being used. Please contact Physical Plant at 4944 or physplan@regis.edu if your areas are working remote before and after the Christmas to New Year’s “gift of time.” Physical Plant will cut back heating to the space after notification. If staff come into work, please bring appropriate clothing to stay warm.

Physical Plant will do a “plug audit” on the day before the holiday break begins and disconnect any electronic devices until after New Year’s Day. Faculty and staff who do not plan to be on campus until Jan. 19 are asked to notify Physical Plant so a “plug audit” can be done earlier.

Check-out protocols:

  • Assure all windows are closed and locked.

  • Clean out and unplug refrigerator units and leave the door open.

  • Assure all food and sweets are emptied from desk and cabinets to avoid a rodent infestation.

  • Turn off all computers and electronic devices in your office space at the plug outlet by disconnecting power source.

  • Assure your lights are turned off.

  • If you intend to return to work during the Gift of Time you must contact Campus Safety at 4122 for entrance to the facility. There needs to be a critical reason for entrance.

  • Put your trash cans outside your door to be emptied.
