The Academic Internship Program in Regis College is thrilled to announce that Regis has been recognized as a top-performing “Career Ready” university in the 2021 SkillSurvey Career Readiness Leader & Innovator Awards

The Leader Awards recognize top-performing institutions whose students received the highest evaluator ratings from over 60,000 supervisors and over 20,000 employers following an internship, co-op, or other work-related experience. These awards recognize those institutions that are advancing career readiness awareness and participation among their students.

For more details about the awards, click on the press release. Regis University has been named top-performing “Career Ready” university in the following two categories:

  • Top Ten Institution for “Critical Thinking”
  • Top Ten Institution with “Career Ready” Feedback for First-Generation College Students

Regis is part of an elite few out of 170 colleges and universities that are taking the lead to measure students’ career readiness in the competency areas that employers value most.

Congratulations to Luke Powanga for a successful Energy Africa Conference, held virtually last week. The informative conference brought together luminaries such as Peter Eigen, the founder of Transparency International which has changed the world in terms of reducing corruption, H.E. Lansana Kouyate, the former Prime Minister of Guinea, Dr. Nevers Mumba, former Vice President of Zambia, and many more, discuss investing in Africa and increasing energy access. Karen Riley and Shari Plantz-Masters also spoke.

Good news from the School of Pharmacy

The School of Pharmacy reports great early results for our NAPLEX (board pass rate) for the Class of 2021. Final results will be received in February, but interim reports for graduates who have taken so far (around 80%) indicate Regis has accomplished a pass rate of 90% (national average is 85%). Way to go, Pharmacy!

Regis Awards More than $6 Million in Federal Relief Funds

On March 27, 2020, Congress passed the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES Act), which established emergency relief funds to organizations and individuals affected by the coronavirus pandemic. The Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) provides funding to colleges and universities to help students continue their education uninterrupted.

Regis University has received three rounds of HEERF funding designated for students.

  • HEERF I – 1058 students received $1,224,343
  • HEERF II – 669 students received $1,224,343
  • HEERF III – so far 990 students have received $3,013,032 out of the $4,042,409 available.

In total, Regis has received HEERF student allocations in the amount of $6,491,095. Without these funds, many students would not have been able to continue their education due to the pandemic. The Office of Financial Aid and the Office of Student Affairs Distress Committee continue to receive applications for assistance from Regis students and have been busy awarding the grant for those in need.
