Federal Blvd. water main replacement to start in January

Denver Water will be starting a water main replacement project on Federal Boulevard in January 2021. The project will last until summer 2021. Working hours will typically be from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday.

This project will occur in two locations on Federal Boulevard, with two crews working simultaneously to replace the aging water mains underneath the road:

1. Federal Boulevard from West 16th Avenue to West 29th Avenue.

2. Federal Boulevard from West 46th Avenue to West 52nd Avenue. (East border of the Northwest Denver Campus)

During construction, there will be daily lane closures on Federal Boulevard in these areas. Motorists should expect delays when traveling through the project areas. Local access to residences and businesses will be maintained throughout the project.

Denver Water will provide updates throughout the project via email and the social media platform Nextdoor.

Detour map of the intersection of 46th Avenue and Federal Boulevard. West 47th Avenue is the detour for north bound Federal Boulevard or the traffic will be sent to I-70 east to Pecos, south to West 46th Avenue and back west at West 46th Avenue.

Single lane traffic and a uniformed traffic officer will be in place at the eastbound ramp at Federal and I-70 during the first phase of the project.
