Sign up for Trauma Informed Practices training

We all experience conflict. But do you feel equipped to handle a confrontation with someone who might be experiencing underlying trauma? Regis University is proud to partner with Denver Strong  to offer a free virtual Trauma Informed Practices training from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 22. This training is recommended for anyone who might be on the receiving end of someone’s anger, from neighbors upset about parking/trash/a noisy party to parents frustrated with their child’s grade, tuition bill or financial aid package and students dismayed by an assignment’s due date, grade or class expectations.

This four-hour training explores how a person’s trauma history can impact their current behaviors, and how organizations and communities can best create environments that build sense of safety and minimize trauma triggers.

At the end of the training the participants should be able to:

  • Define trauma and describe how it differs from everyday stress
  • View people’s behaviors through a trauma lens
  • Better understand the role of resilience in buffering the effects of traumatic events
  • Describe two to three survival coping strategies people with trauma may use and name alternative ways to cope
  • Describe how adverse childhood experiences impact adult health
  • Describe ways they can help people experiencing traumatic stress reactions
  • Describe the importance of self-care
  • Identify potentially traumatizing events they may encounter within a workplace setting
  • Learn about vicarious trauma
  • Identify the impact of stress on their bodies and minds

Expect a dynamic day that includes break-out sessions, stretch breaks, a 30-minute lunch break, and a new way to approach conflict.

Participants must register in advance for the training. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
