Catching up with Cody: Welcoming a new season

As summer departs and the fall arrives – we welcome a new season including our second annual Blue and Gold Weekend, which is a week away. We've combined Family and Legacy Weekend and our Alumni Weekend to create this amazing extravaganza. This is a chance to bring our alums back on campus and forge even stronger relationships with them. While some just graduated this past year, others have been away for decades, and we have a unique opportunity to connect with all of them in a deeper and more meaningful way.
Our Regis family grows larger with the support of our alums, and we must find better and stronger ways to support them. This is also an opportunity to be creative and think about how we look to support the current students who will one day also become alums of our University. Everything we do leaves an impression and tells our story. University Advancement has been working tirelessly to create unique and innovative ways to stay connected and engaged with our many alums across the globe. I am thrilled to see a new energy in the department and a regained sense of partnership with our leadership teams across campus.
While our alums have left campus, they go into the world doing extraordinary things with their lives and we must remember to celebrate them and acknowledge their accomplishments. We are reaching out and learning more about this work so we can celebrate their success in new and different ways. I know many of you are in this alumni group and we want your story as well.
The importance of our Regis community goes beyond our Denver campus. Our four-day celebration will allow us to re-connect and participate in various activities around town and truly take the time to reacquaint ourselves with our alums. This year for Blue and Gold Weekend, I hope you will take a moment to stop and look around you. Our campus has been made possible by gifts through the generous philanthropy of our alumni and donors, many of whom will be on campus again – some for the first time in years.
Whether it’s attending an event at the beautifully renovated Our Lady of Loretto Grotto or joining a campus tour and seeing updates like our new DeSmet Hall and Berce Athletic Center, these are points of progress we are proud to share. The students and families who will join us benefit as well, from the privately funded scholarships and classroom innovations that make this transformative Jesuit Catholic education possible.
In addition, we will have numerous families on campus and it's important for us to steward them as many have students who will be here for the next few years. Our first impressions may be the only impression they remember so please take the time to get to know our guests who will be at Regis during that week. I hope you will take the time to join in on the many activities - your presence is valued.

Our path to the future is the priority! We must also remember our past, and the many who paved the way for so many here today.
I am proud to personally invest my time and treasure in Regis University. The neighborhood is my “home”, having grown up just nine blocks from this beautiful campus. Blue and Gold Weekend is about unity and coming together and contributing to the future of our Regis Home. Whether you choose to volunteer, attend our events, or perhaps even feel inspired to give back with your own gift – every contribution will make a difference when we come together as one Regis.
