On Friday, March 18, an impressive group of Regis students participated in Advocacy Day at the Colorado State Capitol to advocate and speak on behalf of social justice issues.  Way to represent, Rangers! We are proud of you!

Fulbright Scholar News

Emily Stones, Regis College, has been selected for a Fulbright Global Scholar Award to Japan from March-August of 2023. She will be an American Studies lecturer at Tokai University and Nihon University in Tokyo. The Fulbright gives recipients the opportunity to pursue particular academic objectives while also learning as much as possible about the host country in order to promote better international understanding. Congratulations, Emily!

New team member in University Analytics and Reporting

University Analytics and Reporting welcomed a new Data Analyst on the team on Monday, March 28. Derek graduated from Metro State with a B.S. in Mathematics and is taking classes in the M.S. in Data Science program here at Regis. Derek spent time as a math tutor and worked in the Business Intelligence Unit at Metro State which will be valuable experience in his Data Analyst position.  Please welcome Derek to Regis!

Dr. Luka Powanga from the Anderson College of Business and Computing has a lot of very good news to report! He:

  • Earned the Trailblazer award in December 2021 from the Zambian Community in Atlanta for Energy Africa’s work in increasing energy access in Africa.
  • Represents Regis on the Board of Governors for the Metro Chamber of Commerce, a body that works with leaders in the business community representing all industries and business sizes from across the State to determine the needs of the greater business community.
  • Accepted an invitation from the Former President of Malawi, H.E Dr. Joyce Banda, to participate in a dialog on women’s movements and leadership in Lilongwe, Malawi in April. He will talk about energy as a catalyst for economic development and the role of gender diversity. The United Nations, in collaboration with Generation Equality Forum Core Group, appointed Malawi, Netherlands, and Canada as member states to champion the Generation Equality Action Coalition on women’s movements. Leadership organized a landmark ‘Generation Equality High-Level Intergenerational Dialogue”.  Notable participants include several presidents and former presidents of African countries, as well as leaders of African businesses and organizations.
  • Sits on the board of TEDx Fiesole in Florence, Italy. The idea is to go beyond talks to translate words into action. Diversity is the centerpiece of these presentations and the efforts to engage stakeholders. So far, the United Nations Development Organization and luminaries like Peter Eigen are supporting partners. Dr. Powanga is hopeful that a Regis University community member will be one of the twelve members featured in September.

Congratulations, Luka! Thank you for representing Regis so broadly and so well!

Strategic Planning

SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) Conversations

We hope that your units have started to plan to gather in order to collect feedback for the SWOT analysis as part of our strategic planning process. It absolutely matters that every voice is heard! Our hope is to have most of these SWOT conversations conducted before the conclusion of the academic year so that we ensure that we are getting feedback from the employees who are off during the summer months.  There will also be a component of the process that utilizes an anonymous survey to collect feedback. If your unit has questions about getting organized for the SWOT process, please reach out to provost@regis.edu; we are happy to help.

As was mentioned in this week’s Town Hall, you are invited to add yourself to the Strategic Planning Yammer site by clicking here.

Once on the Yammer site, please click “Join” on the top right to be added to the group and receive updates.

Frequent Yammer users can also join by searching for the site name:  “Office of CFO- Institutional Strategic Planning Framework”
