Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusive Excellence shares gratitude

The Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusive Excellence’s recipients of the 2021-2022 Equity and Inclusive awards will be celebrated on Sunday, April 24 during the Unity in Diversity Graduation Ceremony. The awards recognize individuals and groups that actively help ODEIE work to advance diversity, equity and inclusion at Regis University.

This year’s recipients receiving the Champion for Equity & Inclusion award are: Deb Preston and Michael Chiang and the group award goes to the Inclusive Hiring Committee. Each one of these individuals exhibited excellence in living and promoting behaviors on campus that demonstrate diversity, inclusion and educational competence at Regis. The members of that committee are: Eric Barnes, Michael Chiang, Christine Feltman, Erika de Freitas, Liz Grassi, Daye Izmirian, and Wladimir Marquez.

ODEIE has added an additional award this year – it’s the Good Trouble Award and will be presented to the Undocumented Student Resource Alliance group for their advocacy work for Latinos and undocumented immigrants.

And last but not least, ODEIE’s own students will present Dave Law the Student Choice Award, Shining Star for Equity and Inclusion.

Diversity and Inclusion Ambassadors

ODEIE would like to highlight the Diversity and Inclusion Ambassadors and our inaugural year! These students have set the foundation for this peer-educator program and done an amazing job. They participated in leadership & justice trainings, created beautiful Zines, and implemented programs such as; More than a Month- an open discussion about the role of Black History Month in our lives and a dialogue on Father Desmet and the Regis statue.

Thank you for all of your hard work, and we look forward to next year!

We would also like to thank our graduating ODEIE student staff!

Each has contributed not only to our office, but to the Regis community as a whole.  We are grateful for their leadership, ingenuity, care and thoughtfulness. We will miss them dearly.
