Mark your calendar for Good Trouble Conversations

Join the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusive Excellence from noon-1:30 p.m. on Friday, March 10, in Peter Claver Hall, room 306, for a Good Trouble Conversation. Michael Chiang, Associate Professor and Chair of Regis College History and Politics will engage the Regis community in a conversation titled, “Engage or Decouple? Beyond Binaries in U.S.-China Relations.”

The United States and China are two of the most consequential countries in the world today, wielding, to differing degrees, considerable political, economic, and military power and influence. Yet despite the fact that they share many of the same complex challenges in common, such as climate change, environmental degradation, global pandemics, wealth and income inequalities, and misinformation and disinformation, that defy easy solutions and require collaboration across the nation-state framework, many signs point to a fragmentation in the global order as the two countries take radically different approaches to solving these problems. This talk will explore the many factors at stake in the U.S.-China relationship as well as how the bifurcation in that relationship has affected and been affected by broader global developments. The aim is to go beyond simplistic binaries in framing a more productive way for both sides to envision their futures.

Join us for conversation with Fr. James Alison
