A Message from President Aceves

Dear Colleagues,

As we start the new year, I warmly welcome you back to Regis University and wish you all a Happy New Year. I am grateful for the hard work and dedication each of you has shown to our students and each other. We, indeed, are a community of care.

As we begin my second year as President, I have been reflecting on our progress over the last year. We have made significant strides in moving towards a culture of planning and are close to finishing our Strategic Plan. The Strategic Plan and the three-year Enrollment Plan, which the Board endorsed at their September meeting, have provided direction for developing unit plans. I have reviewed and been impressed by the creative and innovative ideas and approaches taken in the Academic, Student Affairs, Mission, and Advancement plans. Later this month, the Senior Leadership Team will spend two days discussing, harmonizing, and prioritizing the plans’ strategies.

Aligning resources with our planning priorities is the next step in our planning process. The Operational Plan, currently under development, will explain how the various infrastructure units will support the work. I ask that you think of an infrastructure unit as something more than the traditional units such as technology, physical plant, and finance. We will also include the administrative and other support that units depend on and rely on to complete their work. The Operational Plan also includes the budget, which is under development through the University Budget Committee's (UBC) efforts. Aligning fiscal resources with the plans and making them an integral part of the Operating Plan will ensure that a comprehensive and cohesive planning ecosystem exists at Regis University and is guiding the institution. The Operational Plan will be presented to the Board for review and approval at their May meeting.

Our planning process is action-based, meaning that specific outcomes have been established to assess progress – these are the President's 2024 Goals. You can track progress through a secure web page we will be adding to our website next month.

To complete this work, we will need an organizational structure that supports our planning efforts and will guide the university's work. I will announce changes to our structure later this month that will help us move in this direction. Finally, we will need a governance structure that allows issues to surface and be addressed by expertise across the institution. I will be sharing a comprehensive list of existing governance committees that are currently in place and how you can engage with them.

I am sincerely grateful for your invaluable contribution to the planning process. Your dedication, insights, and collaborative spirit have significantly enriched our efforts and brought a deeper perspective to the conversations. Your commitment to the planning process is highly appreciated, and I look forward to continuing this journey together as we bring our plans to fruition.

Kindly,

Salvador D. Aceves, Ed.D

President
