ITS issues cybersecurity notification

Dear Regis Community,

The IT Security team is issuing this important notification concerning an ongoing social engineering attack targeting our organization.

What is Social Engineering?

Social engineering involves manipulating users into revealing sensitive information or taking actions that compromise security. These attacks can be disguised as emails, phone calls, or even text messages appearing to come from legitimate sources, such as the Regis ITS Help Center.

What to Watch Out For:

  • Requests for Personal Information: Be cautious of any communication asking for your password, MFA codes, text messages with codes, or other sensitive details.
  • Urgent or Pressured Tone: Social engineering attempts often create a sense of urgency or pressure to compel you to act quickly without thinking critically.
  • Suspicious Links or Attachments: Do not click on links or open attachments from unknown senders, fill out forms that require personal login details, even if they appear to be related to ITS support.
MFA Changes and the Help Center:
To protect our users from these attacks, the IT Help Center will be temporarily suspending guided support for Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) changes at this time. This means our support representatives will not be able to assist with modifying your existing MFA configuration. However, you can still make changes to your own MFA through your account settings

Here's how to get help:
  • Report Suspicious Activity: Report any suspicious emails, phone calls, or text messages to the ITS Security team at abuse@regis.edu
  • Official IT Resources: For legitimate MFA information or troubleshooting, please refer to our official ITS knowledge base at: MFA Changes.

We will resume normal support for MFA changes via the Help Center as soon as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding in prioritizing security during this time.

Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our systems secure.
