- A reminder of the annual workshop to kick-off the academic year! This year the theme is “Walking Together in Times of Change” and we’ll get started at 8:30 a.m. this Friday (Aug. 15) for community and fellowship on the Claver patio, with the programming beginning at 9:30 a.m. in the Mountain View Room. - Another reminder for the “What’s New at RU” session on Aug. 14 at 2 p.m. in the Student Center. Regis has undergone a lot of changes, come learn what different offices have to share, then stick around for an ice cream social to welcome Fr. Hendrickson in/around Walker’s Pub at 3:30 p.m.
- Please consider helping welcome our newest Rangers by volunteering to support Orientation from Aug. 21-23! Volunteers are needed to be a helpful presence to guide students and their families and answer any questions. Register here.
- The ITS department is changing its hours of support: Monday-Thursday, 7:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m. and Friday, 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. To reach ITS, please call 303-458-4050 or submit a ticket online at services.regis.edu.
- Please access these updates from Teaching and Learning Excellence. As a note to new colleagues and a reminder to continuing ones, we will keep this site active with new and helpful information.
- This year, I am launching a Provost Advisory Council. I will report information from these meetings in future newsletters.
- I will be working on a governance audit with the University Faculty Senate. I will report updates in future newsletters, and faculty can also contact their senators for updates.
- There is a new Carnegie Classification called “Opportunity Colleges and Universities”, and in that Regis is one of only three institutions with this classification (and one of two 4-year institutions) in Colorado, and one of two AJCU institutions for 2025. This classification reflects the number of students enrolled from underrepresented racial and ethnic minorities & Pell-eligible students and whether those students who attend make more money than their peers regardless of if they graduate.
- Amy Hezel (Dayton Memorial Library) presented “Film and flick, scum and skim: A Lenten meditation on transformation” on July 21 at the International Gerard Manley Hopkins Literary Festival.
- Erin Winterrowd (Regis College) was co-author for a recent book: Psychology of Gender/Sex (7th Ed.) https://doi.org/10.4324/9781032643526.
- News from this past year – Regis University Athletics won 4 Brechler Awards this year (top academic team per sport) and Regis was the top overall athletic sports program amongst 15 schools in 5 states in the RMAC. Congrats to all coaches, staff and our student athletes.
- Ghulam Mujtaba (Anderson) had his paper, “EdgeAIGuard: Agentic LLMs for Minor Protection in Digital Spaces”, published in IEEE Internet of Things Journal.
- Congratulations to Janelle Ramsel (University Counsel) who recently received the NACUA First Decade Award.
- Jenna Martin (Regis College) had multiple conference presentations so far this year, including Exploring youth perspectives of field-based teaching experiences: Insights and considerations from a grow your own educator preparation program at the American Educator Research Association.
