Celebrate Ignatian Mission Day
The entire Regis community is cordially invited to celebrate Ignatian Mission Day in the St. John Francis Regis Chapel on Thursday, Sept. 11. We are hosting several events to mark the beginning of a new academic year together in the Ignatian Tradition:
- Mass of the Holy Spirit: 11 a.m., Regis Chapel
- In-person, traditional undergraduate classes on the Northwest Denver campus will not meet from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., to allow students, faculty and staff to participate. Mass of the Holy Spirit and other Ignatian Mission Day events are mission-leave eligible for staff and faculty.
- Community Picnic to follow at the Fortune Plaza.
- Chris Pramuk, Ph.D., University Chair of Ignatian Thought and Imagination, "We need a new language, a new imagination, a new story ... and it won't come from AI": 3:30 p.m., Regis Chapel.
- Chris Pramuk, Ph.D., the Regis University Chair of Ignatian Thought and Imagination, will deliver a talk in discussion of the unsettling state of our current cultural and political moment, and core challenges to our Jesuit Catholic mission, where shall we find the stories to rekindle our imagination, our sense of belonging, our hope? How to accompany young people – realistically, not “misleading them with mirages” (Pope Francis) – in the creation of a hope-filled future? Please join us as Dr. Pramuk invites us to consider these critical questions together. Faculty, please consider including this talk on your course calendar and encouraging students to attend.
Everyone is warmly welcome to attend, regardless of faith tradition. We look forward to celebrating this day with energy, community and joy!
