FAC 201F plus PL270P = EXPLORING
Taught by Dr. Trudi Wright and Dr. Becky Vartabedian
We love what we do – thinking together, working through challenging ideas, being in community with one another and with our students. So this class is that: thinking together, working through challenging ideas and being in community. We’ve built a course that brings together required Discovery Core courses in Fine Arts (Creative Expression) and Philosophy (Faith and Reason) with the overarching aim of practicing the tools that support living a life of the mind.
FAMH 252 History of Western Music
Taught by Dr. Trudi Wright
The course will consider the movement of Western Classical Music and culture! Why? Because music, no matter the genre, is always on the move. Students will grapple with the socio-cultural-political issues of the world through the lens of Western Classical Music, in all its permutations. Because the course is offered in the Discovery Core as part of Heritage and Place, students will consider music of the court, music of the church, music of the concert hall, music at home and music at work. Come hone your musical listening skills while learning about history!
