State Funding Update

We are grateful for the collective action of the Regis community in reaching out to your legislators and the members of the Joint Budget Committee over the past two weeks to advocate on behalf of our students. Unfortunately, we were informed yesterday that the footnote in the budget long bill was not discussed or removed during the JBC in their final deliberations. The next step for Regis will involve conversations with the Colorado Dept. of Higher Education and representatives from the Attorney General’s office and the Governor’s office to encourage them to follow statute in dispersing state financial aid funds this year. We continue to believe that the legal analysis clearly supports this action and will prevail.

Meanwhile, we are also preparing contingency plans to support impacted students should those efforts fail, as well as preparing long term advocacy strategies to protect potential threats to the statute and funding in the future.
