Chosen Name Change

Regis University is working on a more streamlined mechanism to facilitate chosen name changes in our systems. While that project is underway, this webpage provides guidance and direction on how to request a chosen name change for email, rosters, and usernames, as well as the WorldClass and Colleague systems.
Please note: This page outlines the steps to be taken by anyone electing to have a chosen name used in place of their legal name. This change applies to first name only and is a separate process from a legal name change. Students who have a legal name change, please complete a Change of Name Affidavit.
How to Request a Chosen Name Change
Steps for Students
| For changes to CLASS ROSTERS and EMAIL DISPLAY NAME:
Fill out a Personal Data Update form and submit it to the Office of the Registrar.
| For changes to WORLDCLASS and USERNAME:
Submit a service ticket via the ITS Help Center. In the ticket, include the following:
- I would like my first name updated in WorldClass from [legal first name] to [chosen first name]
- I would like my username updated to reflect my first initial as [chosen name first initial] in place of [legal name first initial]
| For changes to RESIDENTIAL STUDENT ID CARDS:
Email Student Housing and request a new ID card. In the email, include the following:
- A request to be issued a new ID card that reflects your first name as [chosen first name] in place of [legal first name]
- A new ID photo of your choice (If desired. A new photo can also be taken at the Auxiliary Services Office.)
| For changes to COMMUTER STUDENT ID CARDS:
Email Auxiliary Services and request a new ID card. In the email, include the following:
- A request to be issued a new ID card that reflects your first name as [chosen first name] in place of [legal first name]
- A new ID photo of your choice (If desired. A new photo can also be taken at the Auxiliary Services Office.)
Steps for Employees
| For changes to EMAIL DISPLAY NAME, WORLDCLASS and USERNAME:
Submit a service ticket via the ITS Help Center. In the ticket, include the following:
- I would like my display name updated to reflect my chosen name, which is [chosen name first initial], in place of [legal name first name]
- I would like my first name updated in WorldClass from [legal first name] to [chosen first name]
- I would like my username updated to reflect my first initial as [chosen name first initial] in place of [legal name first initial]
| For changes to EMPLOYEE ID CARDS:
Email Auxiliary Services and request a new ID card. In the email, include the following:
- A request to be issued a new ID card that reflects your first name as [chosen first name] in place of [legal first name]
- A new ID photo of your choice (If desired. A new photo can also be taken at the Auxiliary Services Office.)
