Regis College Faculty Development Committee

The Faculty Development Committee (FDC) of Regis College provides financial assistance for professional development for ranked Regis College faculty, and works to support faculty development opportunities for all Regis College faculty members. The committee consists of seven voting members elected from the ranked Regis College faculty, serving three-year terms. In addition, the FDC Administrative Assistant, the Regis College Associate Dean for Academic Programs and a representative from the Library are present as non-voting members.

 The activities of FDC include:

  • Supporting the faculty, and providing a faculty voice regarding faculty development in Regis College
  • Providing support for travel to professional conferences or conventions
  • Providing small grants for research or teaching improvement and summer grants for scholarship and research
  • Providing stipends for publications and shown artwork
  • Assisting the Dean’s Office in evaluating sabbatical applications
  • Organizing the Fall Faculty Conference
  • Assisting the Committee on Rank and Tenure in the selection of the Faculty Lecturer of the Year
  • Running standing committee elections

These forms should be completed in a word processing program and emailed as a Word or .pdf file to the FDC Administrative Assistant. Hard copies may also be dropped off at the FDC Office in Carroll Hall 201.

For sabbatical applications, submit a hard copy to the Dean’s Office to be filed in the faculty member’s Academic Record File, and email a Word or .pdf version to the FDC Administrative Assistant and the Regis College Dean’s Office.

Major FDC Programs

Convention & Travel Grants
The Convention and Travel Grants allow faculty members to attend local, regional, and national professional meetings and conventions for the purpose of keeping abreast of the developments in their fields and/or improving teaching skills.
  • Dollar Limit
    $1,200 per fiscal year
  • Deadlines/Dates
    May 15, Sept. 15, Nov. 15, Feb. 15 and April 1
    Submit expense report, with receipts, within one week of returning from convention or conference.
Small Grants

The Small Grants Program is intended to aid faculty members in the development of teaching skills, classroom courses, teaching aids and minor expenses for research.

  • Dollar Limit
    $300 per fiscal year
  • Deadlines/Dates
    May 15, Sept. 15, Nov. 15, Feb. 15 and April 1
    Submit expense report, with receipts, within one week of completion.
Publication & Art Stipends

The Publication and Art Stipends provide support for the scholarly works (publications, art exhibits, or professional works) of faculty members.

  • Dollar Limit
    $150 maximum of one per person per fiscal year
  • Deadlines/Dates
    May 15, Sept. 15, Nov. 15, Feb. 15 and April 1
Summer Research Grants

The Summer Research Grant is intended to assist a full‑time faculty member to initiate, continue, and/or complete a research project of some significance. Summer Grants are competitive, and not all applicants are able to be funded due to limited funds.

  • Dollar Limits
    $3,000 maximum for large Summer Grant
    $1,000 maximum for small Summer Grant
  • Deadlines/Dates
    February 15
Sabbatical Leave

The Sabbatical Leave provides uninterrupted time for scholarship and teaching improvement. See the Regis College Faculty Handbook for eligibility, process and reporting requirements.

Fall Faculty Conference

The Fall Faculty Conference is an opportunity for all Regis University faculty to enrich and celebrate teaching and scholarship. The conference is developed around a current issue in academia and generally includes speakers, workshops and discussions.
